Ubuntu 16.04 Network Manager contains only one option for VPN, this is PPTP. Today I had to set up SSTP VPN connection to a corporate Windows network.
Import keys for SSTP:
1 |
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 61FF9694161CE595 |
Create sources list file forĀ SSTP, for example, with nano:
1 |
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sstp-client.list |
Edit the file, add 2 lines there:
1 2 |
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/eivnaes/network-manager-sstp/ubuntu xenial main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/eivnaes/network-manager-sstp/ubuntu xenial main |
Update apt cache:
1 |
sudo apt update |
Check if sstp appeared in cache:
1 |
sudo apt-cache search sstp |
Now we are ready to intall all the sstp:
1 |
sudo apt install sstp-client network-manager-sstp network-manager-sstp-gnome -y |
Restart network service:
1 |
sudo service networking restart |
Now SSTP option should appear in Ubuntu network manager.
