Symptoms: run Quik (stock exchange trading software) in Wine or PlayOnLinux and see unreadable symbols instead of cyrillic fonts.
Solution:
- Install language pack:

- Ensure locale ru_RU.utf8 is added:

- Open a link to Quik on the desktop and add env "LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8" before the command. For example, my command is:
