Install Pig on Ubuntu

My configuration: Ubuntu 14.04, Pig 0.13.0, Hadoop 2.2.0  Link to official tutorial  To install Pig, just unpack it to any folder, that’s all. Detailed instruction is below.

Download the last Pig  release Exact mirror for me was

Unpack to /opt/pig

Set PIG_HOME=/opt/pig environment variable. Also add /opt/pig/bin to the end of PATH variable. For example, use sudo nano /etc/environment.

Check installation. Type

and see pig command prompt
