Install Pig on Ubuntu

My configuration: Ubuntu 14.04, Pig 0.13.0, Hadoop 2.2.0  Link to official tutorial http://pig.apache.org/docs/r0.13.0/start.html#req  To install Pig, just unpack it to any folder, that’s all. Detailed instruction is below.

Download the last Pig  release http://pig.apache.org/releases.html Exact mirror for me was http://apache-mirror.rbc.ru/pub/apache/pig/pig-0.13.0/pig-0.13.0.tar.gz

Unpack to /opt/pig

Set PIG_HOME=/opt/pig environment variable. Also add /opt/pig/bin to the end of PATH variable. For example, use sudo nano /etc/environment.

Check installation. Type
